The Final Lap



“The Final Lap”  Week of May 23rd  

It’s hard to believe that we are so close to the end of the school year!  It’s been an exciting and amazing “race”!  Events and reminders for the upcoming week are listed below so that you can plan accordingly!  See you at the “finish line”!

5/23 Monday:                      

·       5th Grade Talent Show (during Specials time)
o   Participants need to bring any props, costumes, or materials needed for their performance with them to school!
·       Read-In!
o   Please bring a beach towel, a beverage of your choice (no caffeinated/carbonated beverages please), and a great book to school. 
·       CLEANING DAY! 
o   Students, please bring a plastic or paper bag to place papers and supplies in. 

5/24 Tuesday: 
·       Track and Fun Day (9:00-2:00) 
o   Students, please wear tennis shoes and the color GREEN.  Wear sunscreen.  Bring a water bottle.
·       5th Grade Party (6:00-8:00 pm)
o   Location:  North Beach @ Northview Church in Carmel (12900 Hazel Dell Parkway)

5/25 Wednesday:                      
·       Last day of school!  (Full Day)
·       5th Grade Talent Show (during Specials time)
o   Participants need to bring any props, costumes, or materials needed for their performance with them to school!
·       End of the year classroom celebration
·       Bring a pen and yearbooks or 5th Grade Party books to school to fill with student autographs.
·       5th Grade Awards Ceremony (students only)
·       5th Grade Walk of Honor to buses (2:25-2:35) Parents are welcome to come and watch in the hallways!  Parents, please plan to arrive between 2:00 and 2:15 if you would like to see the parade of fifth graders.

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a restful break.  This new semester if full of opportunities to explore Carmel Middle School and all it has to offer.  Below are some tentative dates you will want to mark on your calendar.   Please check your e-mail for notices from CMS as these dates get closer.   CCS Parent Information Nights   & Demo Concert  You should have recently received an email from CCS regarding Parent Information Nights about Middle School programming and scheduling. There are three options to choose from, and you only need to attend one. Students are welcome to attend as well and check out a demonstration performance from band, choir and orchestra. MAP Testing FAQ

You have probably heard a lot about MAP testing these past few weeks from your child.  Fifth graders have spent three weeks taking a series of tests during their computer lab and media time.   This post is dedicated to answering some common questions you may have about MAP.  As always, if you have any further questions please contact me.  Thanks.
