Last Call for Science Fair!!!

Here is updated information from Mrs. Alcantara regarding our CES Science Fair.
  You can sign up even if you missed the Kickoff Event in December.  There is no need to have an idea to register, just read the packet available in the front office or on the PTO webpage.  There was an error on the CES News webpage stating registration is open through 1/18.  Registration is supposed to close this weekend, but we can extend it for anyone affected by that mistake.  Questions?  Contact Jennifer Alcantara:  AlcantaraJRA@Gmail.com

Today marks the end of the nine weeks.  Please look for your child's report card online next Friday.  I am very proud of their accomplishments and the growth they've made. Here are some of the highlights from this past week. Students researched a Native American cultural region and created a poster to share with the class. In reading, we are discussing and reading about the power of our Sun and electricity. We will learn how to make a solar oven later next week.  Ask your child about how to use a compass or protractor.  We have been measuring and constructing angles and polygons with these special math tools.    Our class rocked the unit 3 social studies test.  Check your child's folder for his/her test. Students recently published their personal narratives.  Our narratives are full of great sensory details, flashbacks, and strong conclusions.  Narratives will be sent home at the end of next week. MAP Testing FAQ

You have probably heard a lot about MAP testing these past few weeks from your child.  Fifth graders have spent three weeks taking a series of tests during their computer lab and media time.   This post is dedicated to answering some common questions you may have about MAP.  As always, if you have any further questions please contact me.  Thanks.
